Cinder Path
Southend has relatively low levels of cycling despite good access to many employment and leisure destinations within the Borough from most residential areas. The Cinder Path is a stretch of footpath and cycleway between Old Leigh and Chalkwell Station to the west of the Borough. It forms an important part of the National Cycle Network. Our ambition is to upgrade the Cinder Path to facilitate increased walking and cycling along the coastline. The project will also provide an opportunity to upgrade the sea defences and create an improved sense of arrival at both Old Leigh and Chalkwell Beach.
