Shoeburyness
Of all the local centres in the Borough, Shoeburyness can benefit most from a focused regeneration strategy that can build on its many assets and tackle the causes of deprivation in some areas. It has attracted investment in recent years, mainly focused around the Garrison, but it does not appear likely that the New Ranges site will be a location for large scale employment generation or housing in the near future. However, aiming to make Shoeburyness a sustainable and vibrant ‘village’ offers many benefits for regenerating the area. This would include making the most of the green space, the seafront and the existing quality new and historic architecture. The future role and investment priorities for the two industrial estates will also need to be analysed.
