London Southend Airport is recognised as a key driver for economic development in the Thames Gateway, and the Borough, and is the subject of a current economic and environmental study to inform the preparation by Southend-on-Sea Borough Council and Rochford District Council of a Joint Area Action Plan (the JAAP), to guide its future development. The JAAP will also address the possible expansion of the Aviation Way Business Park as a major employment location.
Our attention is also focused on upgrading the quality of the Borough’s employment land supply and premises through the introduction of planning frameworks to guide future development, supported by public realm and site infrastructure improvements to improve access and market profile. Our aim is to set new standards for design and the working environment, leading to greater inward investment and demand for new development, and to see this reflected in improved rental and capital values, further stimulating occupier and investor demand.
