Advancing Culture & Heritage

The town is developing as a centre for higher and further education and cultural and artistic activity pursuits.

The establishment of East 15 drama school as part of the University of Essex and the increasing importance of the Southend Arts Festival, are just two examples growing artistic diversity and energy.

A new cultural offer in the Cliffs, perhaps as home for the Saxon King archaeological finds, is a possibility, and potential for an innovative digital media gallery in the town centre has also been identified as warranting further investigation.
