Farringdon is identified as a Major Project Area in the Central Area Masterplan Development Framework. The opportunity centres on the redevelopment of the existing Farringdon surface and multi-storey car parks.
Our proposals aim to deliver further development phases to support the expansion plans of University of Essex and South East Essex College. There is also a possible opportunity for the development of a new library in replacement of the current facility on Victoria Avenue.
A preliminary capacity study indicates potential for the following accommodation:
• 27,000 sqm academic and cultural space
• 2,190 sqm retail
• 62 homes
• 200 public car spaces
The presence of the University and College bring youthful energy to the town centre that both drives enterprise and animates the public realm. Their further expansion represents an important component of the regeneration programme.
